Who Are We?

Dynamite are a group who believe that it is important that young people with a disability (including a special educational need) have their voices heard.

We also believe that services for young people are better when they listen to young people’s opinions and experiences.

Dynamite help people in charge of making services for young people in Portsmouth to listen to the opinions of young people with disabilities.

We also help young people and services to work together to make services better for young people.

What do Dynamite do?

Dynamite's job is to make sure that young people with a disability get to have a say in how things are run.

There are lots of ways in which we do this.

In the past we have:

Conducted a survey of 144 young people in Portsmouth.

Put on pizza evenings where young people talk about different issues which affect young people.

We have also had Dynamite members meet with commissioners to talk about how services for young people can be better.

We also have a Young Inspectors scheme where young people visit services and write up reports on what that service was like.

If you have any other ideas for how we can help make sure that young people's voices are heard and listened to then get in touch at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Who can join Dynamite?

Anyone can be a part of Dynamite if they...

1. Are aged 14 to 25.

2. Have a Disability or Special Educational Need.

3. They use services in Portsmouth.

Do I need to have a diagnosis or an EHC plan in order to be a part of Dynamite?

No.

I have a specific problem with the support I'm receiving, can Dynamite help?

Dynamite would like to hear from you as it may be that other young people are experiencing similar problems and together we can make things better.

However, we don't offer one to one advice or support to young people.

If you have a specific problem about support then the Information, Advice and Support Service may be able to help you.
