Parent Voice

A Parent Group, run under the umbrella of Portsmouth Disability Forum along with four local charities. Funded by Aiming Higher for Disabled Children & Portsmouth City Council.

Working with parents of disabled children giving them a say in what services they require/need to be improved and how they would like them delivered for their children.

Our Mission:

• To provide a parent voice/forum for parent/carers of disabled children in Portsmouth.
• To encourage parent participation, comment and action on local services for their children.

Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association

Portsmouth DSA is a registered charity providing advice, support and a wide range of specialist educational services for children with Down syndrome and their families, which include Early Intervention Sessions from birth, Communication Therapy and a Schools Advisory Service currently supporting 45 schools in the area.  We also offer social opportunities and seasonal parties for our members. Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB)

RNIB is the leading charity working for blind and partially sighted people throughout the UK, with over 60 different services to help people at all stages of their lives. The site has links to the VISAGE employers' website, which has extensive information on employment issues including available technology and workplace integration. Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID)

The Royal National Institute for Deaf People is Britain's leading charity working with deaf people. The site provides a range of information and links to related parts of the organisation such as Sound Advantage, which can advise on equipment, and has links to regional offices and groups. RNID also provides a consultancy service including an access audit.

Royal Society for Mentally Handicapped Children and Adults (MENCAP)

Britain's leading charity working for and with people with learning disabilities and their families. MENCAP promotes training and recruitment of people with learning difficulties, and has a particular focus on supporting employees and employers through the PATHWAY scheme.

The Dyspraxia Foundation

This UK charity exists to help people understand and cope with Dyspraxia, a resource for parents, teenagers and adults who have the condition, and for professionals who help all of them.

Tourette Syndrome (UK) Association

Assists those with Tourette syndrome and their families and any other persons connected with the disorder. Provides a national advisory and advocacy group, telephone Helpline service and information packs.
